Brief Medical History Overview
broken femur
I'm a ski instructor, broke my femur on the last day of the season - clean break, surgery to put in a nail screwed at the hip and above the knee. 7 weeks since surgery.I'm walking unaided, doing daily excercises given by physio and having physio once a week. But very stiff legged. Can bend knee 55 degrees - 62 with the physio and some fluid build up on the knee. Had follow up x ray last week all looking good, bone growth doing well. But surgeon said amount I can bend my knee was hopeless however the physio says this is totally normal.?Hope to start stationary bike and swimming . Is it realistic to hope that I will be able to ski easy runs and with beginner clients only in 7 weeks time? so 13-14 weeks after surgery? and then to continue working for the winter season? I am very fit and active and have been thru this before with a broken fibula that was plated and screwed and was skiing 7 weeks later. Am I being totally unrealistic to think I could ski 13 weeks after the injury...?
