Hi all.
I have recently been diagnosed with a congenital C5/6 fusion as well as a T4/5 fusion. I happened to slip over on the ice back in December.
At hospital, i was told that i had a closed fracture of my T4/5 fusion.
i have a few questions relating to this:
- What is a closed fracture?
- Is it going to affect my everyday life?
- Should it be operated on (because i am assuming that my fusions are unstable)?
I have also been told that i may have another congenital fusion in the lumbar part of my spine, is this common??

Never heard that actual term before but I suppose they meant an undisplaced fracture or even a compressed fracture. In terms of surgery, there's not a lot needs doing, just rest, pain management and physio.
But I'll leave that last bit to the resident physios on here - me being just an 'umble nurse!
Hope it gets better soon for you.
