    Brief Medical History Overview

Unhappy Thigh Pain caused by limping?

    Physical Agents In Rehabilitation
    Hi
I broke my big toe joint over the summer and I have now been told it is a non union fracture that will require surgery to fix. I have noticed that my thigh on the same leg has started to really hurt. It almost hurts more than my toe at this moment. I cannot sleep on that side and I often wake up with severe pain in my upper leg. It hurts to just touch the side of my leg. I have been putting ice on it which does help for the 20 min that I have it on but as soon as I take it off it starts hurting. Could this pain be caused by my weird walking bc of my toe pain? I am walking on the outside of my foot and I have been told that I am limping. What are somethings I can do to decrease this pain? I am waiting to see the surgeon but I probably wont have the surgery until June/july.
    Thanks

Re: Thigh Pain caused by limping?

It seems to me that if you've got this toe injury and you've tried to continue as best you can then lower limb body mechanics have come into play.

The bodies uncanny knack of getting around a problem is sometimes not what we would like.

Have you tried crutches i.e. totally non-weightbearing?
Walking on the outside of your foot is goine to cause all sorts of issues, stand still, move your weight onto the outside of your foot and see how your lower body changes, now if your doing that all the time then problems will be evident

    Aircast Airselect Short Boot
The only problem with using the crutches is that i will be on them until may if not june/july until i get the surgery and that is just not possible.
    Additional Comment I forgot:
what i really need is some kind of stretching exercises to help with the pain...
