    Brief Medical History Overview

    Lower back pain

    Physical Agents In Rehabilitation
    Hi everyone,

I'm a 16 year old and have now had some fairly sever lower back pain for the last couple of months.

It started around 7 or 8 weeks ago when I started on a weight loss program (gym 4 times per week and eating healthily). I first noticed the pain in my lower right back in the kidney area after while at rugby training but was no so unbearable that I had to stop. The pain did subside in the evening, though, after I had stopped training. I continued going to the gym the following days and the pain was only noticeable when performing certain movements like bending or twisting.

The next rugby training session was when it became I problem. I had been to gym the days previously without too much pain, but I had to sit out of rugby training as the movements involved in rugby seem to make the pain much worse. As soon as I stop rugby and rest, however, the pain does decrease and it does not cause pain or ache as such, but I can 'feel' it.

This was six or seven weeks ago, but in the time between then and now, the pain is the same and has still been making me come off in rugby (but 'fine' when not playing), but has now moved to the lower left of my back, also in the kidney area.

I honestly have no idea how this happened, but the pain is exactly the same as before, if not worse, but now on the left hand side of my back rather than the right.

This is becoming increasingly annoying as I continually have to be subbed in rugby.

If you need more information, please feel free to ask.

Any thoughts on what the problem could be?

    Thanks.

I've taken the last week off rugby, no training or matches. The pain has essentially gone (except if I twist in the wrong direction there is slight pain). Is it wise to try and begin rugby again?

    Thanks.
