Brief Medical History Overview
ramsay hunts syndrome
Hi everyone have been suffering from ramsay hunts syndrome for a year now and although i have had some improvements in facial assymetory and paralysis i am still unable to smile properly, whistle, or show my front teeth on the rhs affected side [right hand side] My right eye closes when i try to smile and waters when i eat, and My right hand nostril streams. I think this may be some synkinesis residuals and wondered if some neurophysiotherapy would help me? I know there is some train of thought that no facial exersises should be undertaken for at least two years, as the nerve damage can take this long to heal.According to the ent specialist i have seen the 7th and 5th cranial nerves have been affected. I am desperate to get some treatment as this has impacted on every aspect of my life, and have had to stop working.I am trying to get a referal to see Lorraine Clapham at the southampton hospital neurophysiotherapy dept as i have heard great things about her . Does anyone here know this lady? I am also trying to see a neurotologist.Anyones thoughts on my problems apreciated many thanks Jeff Hurst
