Brief Medical History Overview
Long term ankle problem
At the end of August I turned my ankle over for the first time ever, turned inwards whist wearing safety shoes so also much bruising to toes, initially tried to 'work it off' but 4 hours later had to go to the hospital, x-rayed, no breaks, very bruised and swollen all around ankle and up the outside of the calf to half way up. Elastic bandage and crutches. Sent for physiotherapy two weeks later but still too swollen to do anything with it. 4 weeks later had it re x-rayed still showed nothing. Still very swollen. 6 weeks in had ultra sound scan .... showed ligament across top gone, tendon damage and a small piece of bone floating just under ankle bone. Still very painful and swollen. Started rehab exercises in late October completed rehab February (2 hours per week). Still some swelling January, February, lessened during March, now seemingly gone completely. Re-scanned in February and piece of bone gone could find no signs of other damage that might be responsible for pain. However cannot jog on it without pain and any bending of joint such as when crouching causes huge discomfort and stiffness in joint afterwards which lasts for several days. Also joint still hurts when in bed at night, often feels numb from foot to just under knee and after any exercise of it feels very heavy and stiff. Still receiving physiotherapy, massage and manipulation on it now 1 hour per week. Is there any chance of a full recovery or is this how it is going to be from now on? Anything else we can do or special exercises?
