Brief Medical History Overview
bulging disc?
I recently posted that I thought I had strained my hamstring, and after 3 months still inflamed. I was advised here on the forum that this probably was not a hamstring strain, but could be a sacroiliac joint issue causing referred pain.
I went to the physio who also felt this was the case (I did not discuss what was said here, she came to her own conclusions). Exam showed my left side pelvis was 'stuck'. She manipulated the SI area, and the hamstring pain went and had a greater range of movement. I did however experience back pain after a couple of days in the SI area.
Second visit, she said was still a little immobile, and had me lay on my right side - left leg bent hanging over table, left arm bent and back. She rocked me back and forth to try to mobilise the SI joint, and this went on for some minutes.
My leg is still ok, but my back got worse. 4 days later I called her. The pain is deep - feels like it's in the bones of SI area, and is worse when I sit, better if I stand. She said this was ok, i.e. pain in the 'right area' rather than referred - but that it could be bulging disc. Advised me to lie on floor on belly and do a gentle half press up with arms flat on floor (like yoga position) to encourage disc to stay central.
I am not sure what to think. Seems to me that the treatment aggravated the SI area - but it has alleviated the hamstring issue. I have in the past had this kind of back pain, but not for some time. The hamstring pain was entirely new.
I'd really appreciate your thoughts!
