shoulder problems - what next
Hi there,
I'm hoping to seek some advice and direction on what I should do.
I did subluxed my right shoulder 4 years ago. I have had consistent problems since then. I initially had mild shoulder dumping which improved over time from a strength based program. We are almost certain that I have a suttle anterior instability but it is not showing up on the MRI or ultrasounds I have done. I have symptoms of bicep tendonitis and had a subsequent cortisone injection into the biceps sheath. While it wasn't indicated on the scans, we did it as an diagnostic tool and it settled the inflammation down. I also have a tight thoracic which I am working on to improve movement through pilates.
Recently, I inflammed the ulnar nerve and had referred pain down the dorsal part of the forearm. The ulnar nerve pain is pretty much resolved and I have residual tightness in the forearm (flexor carpi ulnaris). I also had referred pain from infrasprinatus. With the biceps pain I have, my physio has found trigger points in the infrasprin which mimic my biceps pain. I am confused that with a recent ultrasound I had done on the rotator cuff, nothing turned up. Can any one shed light on this?
Strength wise, I have been working on a hypertrophy program in the last two years and my strength is prorgressing well. I am just baffled as to why it is taking so long and yes it is not anywhere near as bad as it used to be but it's very frustrating having to continually deal with the flare ups.
So here's the thing. I get referred pain from infraspin which mimics my old biceps pain. I still get referred pain from infraspin down my forearm and typing does not help either. An old scan showed that there was thickening of supraspin and short head of biceps and the clinical significance of this was unclear. Probably still is.
So I'm not sure what this all means. The option of getting another cortisone injection has been proposed but I question where. Advice on some options are greatly appreciated and yes I understand it's difficult when you haven't seen me but any pointers I can discuss further with my physio are appreciated. One option I have considered is sending my scans to the usual sports imaging place, but I'm not sure if that will give me any more answers.
Advice greatly appreciated. Many thanks
