    Brief Medical History Overview

Knee pain - meniscus or no?

    Physical Agents In Rehabilitation
So the insides of both knees (more the right than the left though) hurt when I exercise. Especially so when it's cold/raining out, when I bend and straighten, or doing a lot of heavy movement. Is there something wrong with my knees? Is it arthritis? Is it nothing?

Re: Knee pain - meniscus or no?

I'm seventeen, so I don't have an occupation yet lol. But, I noticed this pain about 4-5 years ago - it was never anything too serious or hurt too much to walk so I ignored it. I would have gotten it from ballet - I danced a couple of hours each day at the pre-professional level. I don't have any past injury history....hope I answered all your Q's.

Re: Knee pain - meniscus or no?

lol,yes dear u have answered all of my Q's
well as u said your carrying this pain last from 4-5year and it has been aggraveted through ballet dancing; possible because it has twisting movement of your knee joint so what i suggest you u can go for the quad training.
what you have to do,sit on a mat keeping your leg straight keep towel rod underneath your knee n just press it and do 2-3 sets for 30-40 reps, along with it
do all the movement of hip mean moving your leg side ways front and back keeping knee straight and do it against gravity; for instance, i'll do hip movement sideways so i'll lie down on one side so that i can train my opposite leg. also do ankle toe movement; this is basic level exercise i have explained to you, so once u'll b alright message me. once u'll b alright tell me i'll tell u other exercise n let me know how's your pain after doing this okey
and main answer its not Wikipedia reference-linkmeniscus it should b ligament

Re: Knee pain - meniscus or no?

    Aircast Airselect Short Boot
Well meniscal tears are associated with the symptom of locking in which the knee joint suddenly locks at any angle during bending or straightening.
    Did u experience this anytime?

Also when the leg is completely bent the pain is most severe, since this is the position when the menisci are under maximal pressure from the bones of the knee joint. So while lifting heavy weights you can get pain from a meniscal tear when there is grinding motion between the bones of the knee as in performing a sit up with heavy weights.

More details in this article on Torn Knee Cartilage

I do agree with panya.viraj that Quads will help you improve your pain as strengthening your thigh muscles helps to stabilize your knee motion and prevent unnecessary stress on the restraining ligaments and menisci.
But severe injuries will not benefit with this and will need a complete orthopedic evaluation.
