Brief Medical History Overview
Ankle injury
About 8 weeks ago I went over on my ankle playing football. A crunching sound and a lot of pain lead me to believe that I damaged myself seriously, but xrays at A&E proved that it was limited to a bad sprain. I was strapped up, given cruches, told to rest for a few days, take ibuprofen, and elevate my foot where and when possible. Then after a few days start to work the ankle back into recovery. Recovery time was estimated at 4 weeks.
8 Weeks on, and although my ankle feels a whole lot better with movement and power almost at 100%, the ankle is in fact still swollen by about 65%.
I am due to make my return to my sport this weekend, so my questions are;
*Can I play with the swolen ankle if there is little / no pain?
*How do I increase the speed in which the swelling reduces - ideally to happen within the next few days?
