    Brief Medical History Overview

    Unhappy Side effects of Lisinopril

    Physical Agents In Rehabilitation
I started having pain and tightness in my left thigh when I first got up in the mornings. After about 15 minutes or so it would get better. Day by day it seemed to change, eventually the pain was so bad I could no longer walk. My doctor couldn't figure out what was causing the problem. I hadn't had any type of injury or anything like that. I started researching online trying to figure out what was happening to me. I came across a website such as this one in which other people were having the same problems that I was experiencing. To my surprise, they all had been taking Lisinopril for high blood pressure. My doctor immediately changed my medication; however, I continued to have problems. It has been about four months since I took the Lisinopril. I am now in extreme pain from my the top of both thighs to my knees, especially when I bend. I also have pain in both hands and arms. My hands are numb most of the time now. When walking up stairs my knees give way. My doctor has run several tests and nothing shows abnormal. He has now suggested that I see a Rheumatologist or a Neurologist.

I would appreciate any help you can offer. I am afraid I am going to end up in a wheel chair.

    Hi DDBanks

This is a physical therapy site and as such we have limited knowledge about side effects of drugs, so it is beyond our scope of practice to comment or advise you on whether the drug you took is causing your symptoms or what else is going on. your symptoms may not have anything to do with a drug adverse reaction, then again I could be wrong.

There are however a number of potential causes of your symptom including serious disorders. I take it your doctor is a general practice type Dr? With severe symptoms like that I think it warrants a proper investigation and you may need referral to a specialist such as a neurologist as your dr suggests. If you fronted up to my clinic with the symptoms you are having I would immediately refer you on for further investigation and would not try to treat you without knowing what is going on. These are serious symptoms you are having and Your alarm over it is quite warranted.

So I would go back to the dr and insist on getting it further investigated. Sorry not to be of further help
