After the dislocations, once flexibility improved, it continues to click.
Will sports rehabilitation courses be beneficial and how is it different? (with regard to recurring patella dislocations)
Background:
I'm a 17 year old male, and play many sports such as football, kickboxing, and cricket.
Last year I dislocated my patella while playing, as my knee twisted when my spikes got planted in the turf.
When the patella popped out, our physio put it back in place.
On further investigation the doctor found I had an Osteochondral Medial Fascet Fracture, and hence had to have the chipped piece of bone removed via arthroscopy (keyhole surgery).I rested for 6 months before playing again. During this time, I did UltraSound on my knee for a week, and did physeotherapy too which involved:
- weight belt excercises for the initial phases with increasing repetition and weight
- machine weight exercises (curls and extentions)
- body weight exercises (squats, lunges etc)
I admit however that I did not perform these exercises regularly and religously enough.
Last month I dislocated my knee again while playing footaball (just 2 months into playing sports again).
This made me wonder if my physeo has been up to the mark, and whether I shoukld do something else to recover from and prevent any future dislocations.
I love sport and dont want it to be a recurring injury.
Will sports rehabilitation courses be beneficial and how is it different.
Thanks a ton in advance.
