Hi all,

I live in Abu Dhabi, UAE at the moment and will be coming to Vancouver in March for a couple of weeks on business and was hoping to find a good Physio / Sports Rehab Center in Vancouver to visit while i'm there.

I've had a lot of problems with my ankles over the past 2 years after years of bad sprains from soccer, basketball, volleyball etc. I eventually had to stop all activity as there was obviously something very wrong with my right foot. It hurt to even stand up for any significant period of time, walk more than a couple of blocks, let alone run or play any sports. The pain was mainly in my arches and in the ankles. I've also put on some weight in that time (approx. 10 - 15 lbs) (I'm currently 30, 5'9, 185lbs, been very active in sports all my life.)

After seeing many doctors who gave me general advice that didn't really help i finally came across a great podiatrist visiting from the University of Connecticut.

Long story short, her findings were: Cavo - varus hindfoot with pes planus on the midfoot level, Tibia vara, tight calves, mld hallux abductus valgus.

Her recommendations were: Propioception, stretching, ultra sound, manual therapy, kinesiotape.

I'm wearing custom made insoles (orthotics) at the moment (which has relieved some of the pain in my arches; but the pain returns if i walk barefoot or in shoes without the insoles) and i'm also seeing a physiotherapist but he's not following all of my doctors recommendations (no manual therapy, ultra sound etc; says its unnecessary) so i'd like to see someone while in Vancouver to get their take on everything and start to work seriously on recovery knowing i'm getting good solid advice and care.

So my question is:

1) Any recommendations on good sports medicine / rehab / physio centers in Vancouver, and;
2) I've also just heard about Airrosti sports rehab centers and was wondering what people thought of them.

Thanks a lot,

Best,

Joe
