X Ray Analysis of my mom's right knee
Hello Everybody,
This is my first post here. I need your opinion regarding the X Ray analysis and treatment of my mom's right knee. I hope you all will help.
My mom is 56 year old and 2 weeks back she had a fall. The X-Ray analysis of her Right knee AP/Lat view is given below verbatim
" Mild osteopenia in visualized bones with evidence of depressed fracture lateral tibial plateau and osteoarthritis changes in knee joint "
The doctor has put her leg in a knee brace which she has to wear all the times and it immobilizes her leg.
There was some swelling at the knee which has now reduced.
She is able to walk a little using a stick as support. She finds no pain in the knee while walking.
She often complains to me that she finds the knee immobilizer very uncomfortable to wear. After wearing it for considerable period of time, she finds that her knee has become stiff.
The doctor has advised her to wear the immobilizer at all times and not to move her leg at any cost.
Do you think this situation is serious enough to require a knee brace or she can safely discontinue its use ?
