Hello
I made some pictures, hopefully they help. I live in the UK.
I fractured my scapula in 2 places on Janaury 28 2011. I was playing rugby and tackled one of the huge fat guys on the other team. My technique was terrible (that is why I hurt myself). Here is roughly what the tackle would have looked like
The picture isnt great, but basically the tackle caused the injury. I kept playing for another few minutes and go tackled once more. It hurt a lot so I went to the hospital.
They took some x rays, cat scans and told me I fractured my scapula in 2 places. So he said no contact sport for 6 months, then light contact after 8 months. I stopped all sport activity. After maybe 3 months I went to physio for a few sessions, and did the exercises she told me to do. She then said I was fine and everything is ok. It felt very very weak but it was ok. The exercises were front raises, lateral raises and these pushup things where I pulled my scapula back. So I did not do any sport until December 2011. I did some cycling and running. Nothing that involved my shoulder.
This is roughly what the X ray looked like. I had the option for surgery but declined and then in the end the doctor said everything looked fine after my last check up. So I trust that my scapula has healed.
This month I decided I wanted to get into weights again. I was weary so I started incredibly light. I did not go overboard with weight or intensity. Something has not felt right though. It is like I can feel there is a weakness in my left shoulder or left upper back. It doesn't hurt when I do a pullup for example but after a workout it just feels a lot more worked, and now after a workout on thursday where I only did some pullups and pushups, it feels a bit strained. Not painful really, I can just feel a tiny bit of a straining feeling when I move it. When I push my back and shoulder in one area it hurts a bit. The area is very small, and it is actually difficult to find because it is so small.
I have tried to circle the area on this picture, it is somewhere in that area but it is not big. None of the pain or strain I have experienced is very painful. It just feels weak and a tiny bit pianful, like a straining feeling.
I dont really know what to do. Im incredibly frustrated. I wwanted to start doing some gymnastic movements on still rings but Im worried about injuring myself. I dont know if I could handle another injury. Before all this I had just recovered from a stress fracture to my back. I dont even know if Ive explained myself too well.
So Im wanting to know if this is probably just a bit of a strain or Ive overworked something (even though I though I was taking it easy), or if there is a possibility that something has not healed correctly? I can provide more information of you need it. Just some guidance would be appreciated
Thank you
