I have had intermittant short, sharp, intense pain in my lower left calf for several months. Sometimes I can go for weeks with no twinges at all and then I may have a few days with recurrent pain all day. The pain is always at the bottom of the calf, in the middle of the leg and lasts only a few seconds but is exruciatingly painful at the time.
I cannot link the pain to any special exercise (or lack of it), any special time of day or any dietary changes and, as the problem does not stop me walking or exercising, I am reluctant to bother my doctor with it. I would like to know whether this is likely now to be with me for ever and is something I must put up with or whether there may be some treatment.
