Guys,

First a little background. I am 72.5, my typical activities are, Ice Skating, Climbing and Trimming Trees professionally, vigorous Table Tennis, I walk nearly every morning 2 miles and run several hundred yards of the distance before going to work in the morning as an inside sales 5 day/week job person. I am generally on the South Beach diet, lots of vegetables and other good food. My weight is 172, I am 5'11, the BMI is 24. I do 35 full military push-ups and 7-8 chin-ups every day.

The issue is a Hematoma on my left side hip bone area (Post Traumatic Trochanteric Bursitis of hip) due to a fall on the ice about 6-7 weeks ago. I have no pictures and when the fall occurred, I did not stop skating as I am reasonably accomplished at this activity. There was a sizable bruise at the point of impact which has completely disappeared. However, the Hematoma is still present. It is roughly 4" in diameter, about 1/2" in height and last week I went to my general practitioner who drained 240 ML of fluid out of the affected area. He told me it would re-fill and it has.

The only treatment I have applied is a heat pad every night several times letting it heat up, then turning it off and after cooling, repeating the process. This is done two to three times before going off to sleep.

I am interested in any suggestions as to how to get the Hematoma affected area back to a normal condition. There is very little discomfort if any in the area.

Second issue: This may or may not be of interest. I am aware of balance becoming a minor issue. What I cannot understand is that past activity, when I would loose my balance and a fall was eminent, I have always been able to get my hands out in front of me to catch myself. In the last two falls, it was as though I was not in the least aware of the impending fall. Simply, I suddenly found my self flat on the ice with no attempt at all of breaking the fall. This makes no sense to me. There was absolutely no recognition of the act of falling. I was upright, and suddenly find myself fallen??

Please let me know what any of you think of the condition.

Also, I take every day, 1 tablet ea, fish oil, vitamin B12, Folic Acid, calcium, small aspirin, Vitamin D, Clairitan. Nothing else.

Best regards,
Terry Crowell
