    Wrist pain around scaphoid

    Physical Agents In Rehabilitation
    History
At the gym, lifted heavy bar to place back on rack with a flexed / pronated wrist, felt an instant clunk with pain that has not subsided in ~4 months. Weakness in wrist was treated with physiotherapy, pain persists during very specific movements.

    Problem
Has pain with ulnar deviation while in an extended and supinated position and weight bearing (holding a frying pan while cooking, lifting furniture, drying hair from shower, etc). Also can have pain while clenching fist tightly and extending (ringing out a wet cloth). Pain is very localized on the inside of the wrist around the scaphoid region, described as sharp, pinching soreness. Some relief with pulling the hand outward and manually easing tension with wrist relaxed. Also feels slight discomfort / tightness on flexor tendons when hyperextending wrist from supinated position, non load bearing.

Any ideas on what the problem could be or exercises that may help out?

Patient is an athletic male with no health problems, no medications, no relevant issues that may relate.

**Should also note that there is no / little pain when wrist is locked, load bearing. When deviation (and sometimes hyperextension) is introduced, sharp pain can occur and is too intense to continue movement.

Scaphoid fracture must be ruled out quickerly often these are occult in first 2-3 weeks. x- ray wrist otherwise necrosis of bone may be a likely repercussion. Do it quickerly
