    Achilles tendonitis

    Physical Agents In Rehabilitation
I'm an active 42-year-old male with tendonitis, basically the result of over exercising (basketball and softball mainly, but also occasional plyometrics and jogging/treadmill). For the better part of a year, I had mostly been managing the pain by resting longer between activities, but eventually the discomfort began increasing. I got some custom inserts from a podiatrist, which I wear always, regularly take anti-inflammatory medicine, occasionally ice the ankle, massage the calf and lower leg with a grid roller, and started doing weekly yoga a few months back. I stopped all impact activities (basketball, softball, running/treadmill/jumping) about a month and a half ago (I still lift weights for the upper body and do elliptical for cardio), but I still get soreness/tenderness in my right ankle where the top of the foot and lower leg meet during the course of the day--most often without any obvious rhyme or reason. There are no bumps or redness. I was prepared to commit to a long period of inactivity, but would have guessed I would have noticed some improvement by now, but I just seem to be stuck. Is this normal? Should I just continue be patient and assume there will be improvement at some point with rest? Or am I doing something wrong? I'm really frustrated.

Thanks AmberLianne! That's super helpful. Your assessment rings true. The wraps are a little pricey, but I'll likely give it whirl. Meeting with a sports do this week, and I'll see what she says about BFST.
