I developed Osgood Schlatters 6 years ago during a game of football. I was referred to Physio, received rehab exercises and IR treatment. Due to having to give up competitive sports at the time and other issues, i found it hard to stick to the prescribed exercises and R.I.C.E. Eventually, the issue wasn't resolved and the longer i left it, the more hesitant i was to seek help.
I now have a bony growth instead of just a lump. I had no pain after a while, some mild clicking in my joint when i move it. I decided to start strength training, taking it very easy and watching the weight. No pain arose until recently, when i started adding in squats and deadlifts. There is no pain during the exercise at all and if there was, i would stop. The days after, i get pain only if i squat down and i feel it just under the bony growth. Walking around i get no pain, sitting i get no pain.
My questions are this. Should the bony growth be dealt with first before strength training? Will it affect the stretch of my muscles and compromise form? Does this pain signify something that requires medical attention?
