Female, Presenting Problem Since: 5 years, Symptom Behaviour: constant
My wife has pelvic girdle pain and pubic symphyses dysfunction. She has been prescribed a number of core stability exercises but can't do them because of the pain it causes to use a mat on the floor. Can anyone advise where find as thick a mat as possible that is well cushioned without interfering with the exercises and is good for ones that involve gliding the heel of your foot up and down the mat? We have been searching the net with no answers so I thought physios would be the best placed to answer.
Many thanks in advance!

Hi,
my I suggest you go back to the Physio who prescribed the exercises to let her know of your wife's problems.
It's strange to prescribe exercises and then not follow up on whether a patient can actually do them.
Your Physio will have information on where best to buy a suitable mat and what to use for the heel slides. Usually mats are made from rubber - so slides are not possible unless you use a 'something' to eliminate friction; e.g. plastic bag, double satin sheet.
