Hi
I was recently diagnosed with ACL rupture and "complex tearing of the posterior horn and body of the medial meniscus with a mildly displaced peripheral fragment of the medial meniscus at the posteromedial joint margin."
Because of insurance and work issues, I can only have surgery 12 months later. To prevent further damage/wearing to the knee (the cartilage, in particular), how should I take care of it? Should I wear an ACL brace for a year? I've heard that ACL braces only help those who feel their knee gives way.
Is the cartilage damaged/worn each time the knee hurts and swells up?
Any help appreciated.
Thanks
