A lot of possibilities, due to timing of and response to various exercises. The way it sounds like it started could be a partial year, DVT even though there are no other indicators of this, or restricted fibula head movement in response to WB activities. Could that happen from restricted movement following an injury ? It could but doesn't mean that is the issue.
Try some isolated ankle and for resistance to see if there pain is reproduced. Try some isolated NWB strength testing to see if that reproduces the symptoms. Once you can narrow down more the activities by joint that provoke the Sx , the easier it will be to have educated guess about the possible causes. My suspicion based on nothing more than a few sentences is that it will be related to your ankle but it is impossible to say with any certainty at this point.
