Hi all,
I have been suffering with chronic calf strain for a while and I am actively looking to get it fixed, I finally have a professional physio appointment next week. My question is however, I work an office job so I'm mostly sat in a swivel chair all day. I find that my legs ache and are painful pretty much constantly while sitting down. I don't get these feelings anywhere near as bad when I lie down compared to sitting up in a desk chair.
Does anyone have any recommendations about how best to sit to allow my legs to heal effectively. Should I raise the seat higher/lower? Should I bend my knees or straighten them? A few suggestions such as the answers to these questions would be really helpful.
Thanks in advance,
QuornKid

Hi QuornKid,
Well, you should attempt to perform calf and hamstring (back of the thigh) stretches on a daily basis to avoid or reduce developing tightness in these groups of muscles, as this is a common phenomenon in people who have desk jobs; or at least get up and walk a min or two every once an hour.
Coming to your sitting posture, the correct method is to sit with proper low-back support by the back rest of the chair, your hip and knee at 90 degrees and feet flat on the floor (if not possible then they should be supported by a foot rest).
Hope this is of some help to you.
