I am looking for suggestions on how to tape my foot to stabilize the toe area and minimize left to right rolling of the foot.
Perhaps I should start with some background. I've been playing soccer recreationally "with the guys" at work for about 2 months 2-3 times a week during lunch hours. As we've gotten better, we've also become more aggressive. 2 weeks ago I experienced some pain hear the knuckle of the fourth toe of my left foot. There was no swelling and initially I thought that it was a muscle cramp since it would go away with an upwards stretch of the toe. However after our game this past Friday the pain has persisted when I walk. I can massage my foot, poke and prod and it doesn't cause any pain. But when I put my foot down on the floor and lean my leg towards the right, I get a pop out of the knuckle in question with quite a lot of pain.
I saw my GP and she thinks that it is a strained supporting muscle and suggested that I let it rest and to tape it up for soccer games. I agree with the rest, but disagree with playing any soccer on it until it is much better.
So with all that background, I am looking for suggestions on how to tape my foot for every day walking as I let the injury heal. I have tried a number of different schemes of my own devising, but they don't always work very well to keep that fourth toe in it's neutral position as I walk. Any help is greatly appreciated.
You never realize how valuable good health is until you don't have it!
Thanks in advance.
