    Brief Medical History Overview

Bad neck -if I have an X-ray, what happens next?

    Physical Agents In Rehabilitation
Suppose they find something wrong with my neck.

    Is surgery the next option?
Is it even possible to operate on the neck?

    Thanks

Hello, without any information regarding the reality of the situation it is difficult to say. If it is chronic degenerative changes probably nothing will be necessary, if fracture perhaps, if soft tissue problem then not necessarily.

    Regards

Most neck Xrays do not show a big deal apart from a level of degenerative change that may or may not be relevant to the pain you're getting. It is helpful to rule out some conditions though and is normally done as a precaution when making a diagnosis.

It's not normal to operate on a neck unless there is a condition of instability or severe nerve compression etc etc .... it is not something that is done lightly.

You can have a very painful neck with no indication for surgery at all.
