Re: Please help, anxiety with physios

    mr hyde,

I would consider the doctor in the wrong more so than the physio. I am not trying to support what the physio did/said, but it is the doctor who broke your trust, not the physio.
Assuming the issue was irrelevant to your health/current issue, then the doctor wouldn't have written it in his referral to the doctor and the physio would not have known. Perhaps I am assuming things, but this is what i think..

mira Im sorry but yes, you are assuming things. Maybe things work differently here in the UK, but I can assure you she was given full access.

Re: Please help, anxiety with physios

    Hi,

I received a different message to my email...i'll try respond to both.

Sorry for assuming things. I think perhaps things do work differently here. Are you seeing a PT in hospital or private practice? If it's private practice we definetly don't receive much info from the doctor other than a referral with what they think the issue is or what they would like to be done (which is rare as well).

Regardless...the physio should not have made you feel like a "monster"..that is absolutely unethical on the PT's part. I would unfortunately base what happened on the physio's general personality rather than her (abilities) as a PT.

I do agree PT's do develop a more 'intimate' relationship with their patients but we are supposed to maintain patient confidence and distance and know where the line is and not to cross it.

The best I can recommend if you still need physio is to see another PT at another location and start a new relationship from scratch. A new PT may understand if you disclose your past experience with the physio and base your relationship more on physio alone and keep the conversation very general.

You may also want to speak to your doctor about the info he passed on and make it clear to him that you don't want it to be shared with other health professionals and you will share it with them yourself if deemed necessary.

    Best of luck.
