hey everyone.
initially i was thinking that the injury could have been a peroneus longus strain? as it is on towards the outside of my lower calf.

just a little background first to give as much info as i can. im in the military and training for special forces and so i do quite a bit of pack marching and running with load bearing equipment (7kg webbing and 4kg rifle). the running is going really well however about a month and a half ago i was running on a dirt track and i felt an 'ache' after on paticular step on the very lower and outside of my right calf. it built up with the running and after a couple of hundered metres i stopped altogether. i noticed it mostly when i pushed up onto my tiptoes but walking wasnt to bad. a little discomfort. i iced it. rested for 4 days before attempting anything and then got back into it no dramas and no discomfort at all. good to go...
i trained very hard for an an entire month without any difficulty and doing some very arduous training.

THEN a month later i did the same thing again. same type of running exersize (wasnt to intense and had only just started) yet it felt a fair bit more painful. i when into a R.I.C.E regime for an entire week until it felt absolutley fine (it felt fine after about 4 days) before attempting a light jog and bang... there it was again. i went straight to the doctor and he has booked me in for an ultrasound and mentioned a possible hematoma. what worries me is that it reoccurred with more intensity.

now i walk around fine and can again only notice it when i push up onto my tip toes or walk up some stairs. its an ache in the very lower outside of my calf muscle. it intensifies when i run in the upward pushing motion. im not training at all now ntil i get the results and talk rehad with the doc.

but the problem is that the special forces selection course is in one month now and im desperate to rehabilitate as quick as possible and at least get a couple more weeks trianing in before attempting the course.

has anyone else had a similar injury from the symptoms ive described and what it may be. how long did it take to rehabilitate before you were fine to get into intense work again?

thanks so much for reading this rediculously long message and responding with any information you have!

Andrew
