    Thumbs up Credential valuation

    Hi
I am trying to get some information on credential valuation for a physiotherapist with 14 years of education and 4 years in a bpt course.
Anyone with a similar status who has done an ICD evaluation can help me by letting me know if I can get 60 in general and 75 in professional?

This is all foerign to me. Can you please try NOT to use abbeviations, at least the first time, as abbreviations are not indexed for future search. And few of us, including me in this case, know what they stand for. In your message I would love to try to help but you give no reference to a country and what exactly "credential valuation/ICD " stands for? If possible can you please provide more information for us. Thanks

    hi bob
International consultants of delaware, ICD is a credentialing agency accepted by the florida board and many other states in the US,to give a report on our education and training. Usually the ICD scores will determine whether the board will give us a license inorder to take the National physical therapy examination. If I need to qualify for licensure, I need to score 60 in general and 75 in professional. General includes all our education such as GCSE and A levels and professional includes our physiotherapy course. ICD compares our education and training with the US standards. Being an Indian physiotherapist I know that in professional, I can score around 100 points but I am not aware of how the ICD will rate my general points. I have heard that the scores are usually in the range of 20-30. I want to confirm this. If I can then I wont apply for licensure in florida. I can apply in Michigan or new york where these scores are not relevant for a licensure.

Perhaps the best person to ask this question of is Darren at Physio America. You can contact him directly here. He is a UK trained physio working in the USA and he specializes on getting UK and Aussie physio's through the registration process. As he is a PT he will directly be able to relate more to your needs and questions. I hope his helps you with the info you need.

    Re: Credential valuation

Hi, my name is Andrea. I am a foreign-trained PT, I
went to PT school in Germany. I graduated 10 years
ago, and have been working in Germany since then. I am
an American citizen, and I knew I would eventually be
moving back to the US. In 1998 I took the State Board
Exam for Colorado, and passed, but never wound up
moving there. In the meantime I have family in
Florida, which is where I have moved to, and would
love to continue working in my field of specialty
(pediatrics) . Unfortunately, I am having great
difficulty in finding a way to get licensed here! It's
really incredible, the bureaucracy of it!

Supposedly, there are two credentialing agencies who
work with the State Board here in FL, but only one
will do crdentialing for Germany. And their answer? I
need not even TRY to apply through them, they will
deny me the chance to get licensed here. They say
German PT school is not comparable to US PT school...!
I feel cheated, as I am just trying to get HOME and
make a living here doing what I love to do!

What I need is someone who has been to PT school in
EUROPE (of course, most preferably Germany), and is
now licensed in Florida. Or even someone who TRIED to
get licensed in Florida and wasn't able to. Or someone
who knows someone who knows someone....!

I appreciate any help I can get, thank you in
    advance!!

    Re: Credential valuation

look first of all do your credential evaluations for new york and michigan only becuase they require no extra credits
however if u fell short in general credits do clep courses and if professional credits are short do Msc pt from your home country

    Hello,

I am a physiotherapist from India with a masters degree , also in process to get my credentials evaluated for a license to work in Florida. I wanted to know what exactly are these clep courses. Also I wanted to know that is it true that ICD evaluation is not considered much reliable by many states as compard to FCCPT?

    Thumbs up Re: Credential valuation

well clep courses are done if there is general education credits deficiency not in professional one like Bsc,Msc pt.one can do these any time even before their degree evaluation however do CLEP after evaluation agency give u report that u have general education deficiency.
the credibility and recognization of ICd and Fccpt are almost equal even Icd is more preferable because they cost u low and they are faster than Fccpt
