    Hello-
I'm curious as to if anyone has any statistics on the average beginner's annual salary, as well as the experienced physio's high and low average income. If anyone as any information regarding this, I would be very interested. Thanks!

    re: average salaries in OZ

I'm a Canadian looking at working in aus. and I have found out the salaries begin at approx. $703/week and increase according to years experience. This is based in Victoria and in the public sector. hope the info isn't too late. Good-luck.

An average Physiotherapists in private practice in Oz with aournd 5 years experience gets $50,000AUD per year. If you are an associate or practice owner that can range anywhere up to and over $1Mill AUD (as an annual turnover). And I know of a few practices who are billing in excess of that :-)

    re: average salaries in OZ

The Australian states are quite comparable with salaries in the PHS, except for the ACT - which is much lower.
A starting post grad salary is approximately $AU36.000 - 38,000 pa with a small increase (less than inflation) each year until the cut-off at Senior level. The scope is probably the broadest in skills, so someone from the US,, eg needs to find out much more before venturing on a retraining program....try one of the agencies for overseas folk. Good luck. It is difficult to retrain in Aust.

Well, I can now speak on first hand knowledge about salaries in oz, seeing that is where I was for the last year. And as I said before public hospitals pay much lower at $700/week and I worked locum positions in private practices and earned $1100-1500/week. Depending what you percentage you get it ranges from 40-50% of your gross billings. I was forturnate to get 60% in one locum position. And that salary is gross not subtracting the tax of course... But its not just about the money b/c its a fantastic country and great lifestyle and i'm definitely going back.
