Red face What is a band 5 physio?

    Hi all,
I know this question may seem ridiculous to you, but in Portugal we don´t use the same classification.
I have been seeing some advertisments for jobs in the UK, but don´t really know what they are asking for...
Does it have to do with the years of experience or something else?
    Thanks for your help

Re: What is a band 5 physio?

More often than not band 5 posts are for newly qualified professionals - its mainly an NHS term that has replaced the posts previously known as basic grade or junior. The band 5 positions can also be for anyone returning to work after a period of time out of the profession - assuming that they can demonstrate an understanding of the fundamental skills required to do the job.

Thx for your reply wriggly_b. And the other bands (6, 7 how many are there?) are for how many years of experience?

Re: What is a band 5 physio?

Band 6 is for experienced physiotherapists - normally with 2+ years experience (specialist), band 7 is specialist physiotherapists/team leaders or physiotherapists with managerial responsibilities and band 8 (which is broken into 3 levels - a,b,c) tends to be department head or higher level management and often have little clinical hours, based on their management role.

    Thanks Wriggly,

We all have the same profession but the circumstances per country vary so much.
I never knew how these bands worked either and I have been around for a while .

    Thanks for the explanation.

    Esther
