Hi Everyone,
Thanks in advance for any advice and opinions.
To explain my situation:
I am in a long distance relationship with my wonderful girl who is a medical student (and a US citizen), about to graduate in May and begin her residency. She hopes to get placement at MGH for a Pathology residency program, otherwise places in NYC, John Hopkins or in PA (she's currently at NYU doing Sub-intern).
I, however, am located in Sydney, Australia, a goodly long way away.
Education wise, I have quite a bit. My Bachelors (graduated in 2002) was in Science, majoring in Anatomy, with courses in histology, physiology, psychology, chemistry, physics and maths.
In addition to that, I have a Master in Applied Science (graduated in 2003) majoring in Microscopy (especially scanning electron microscopy).
Then to top off the trifecta, I have a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering.
It's a long story how I got there, but, now, I am considering Physiotherapy, and studying it as also a means to be closer to my beloved.
I am particularly interested in sports physio/science, as I have been fairly active in a few different sports/martial arts in my life and experienced/seen the conditions/injuries/effects of these upon those participating.
So, the questions:
How likely would I be to be successful in an application to do physiotherapy in the USA?
I notice that there is a lot of doctoral programs (7 semester + clinicals) for physicaltherapy, are there Masters programs that I would be eligible for? I'd rather not step into a Bachelor program if I can avoid it.
How are the financials like? I noticed for the doctoral program, MGH affiliated institute listed $97k/year as a typical cost. I don't have that kind of money available and would have to do loans or something....
I also notice that they require a GPA of 3.0 Well, it has been a few years since I studied (I graduated in 2008)..... I am not sure what a GPA 3 equals to....
Anyway, that was pretty long winded.
So, in summary,
Any places with post-grad courses for international students in physio in the Boston/NYC area?
What are my chances of success in this endevour?....
Once again, thanks heap.
