    Hi Chantelle,

    Good Luck!

Its always good to have had some experience of working with physios either as a volunteer/assistant or as work experience.

Approach local hospital physio depts/ private practices/ health centres with physios/ special schools with physio depts. Places often get filled quickly as each department can only take so many students/volunteers/work experience placements as they are very busy. Be positive, and you will, I am sure, find a department that will be able to assist you.

It is also useful to be aware that physio does not just involve treatment of sports injuries, but has a myriad of other specialities which we work in eg orthopaedics, cardiorespiratory, neurology, rheumatology, mental health, community, rehabilitation services. About 15 main specialities in both adult and paediatric work, each of which have sub specialties eg cardio respiratory has specialists in general surgery, cardiac and lung surgery, transplants, critical care, cardiac and pulmonary rehab, respiratory medicine and so on. It is a fantastic job, with a huge variety of specialties in which you can work and gain experience.

    I hope this helps,

    Liz B.
