I understand that some Universities only offer placements in the third year. Could anybody help me out in suggesting any which offer them throughout the course? I hear coventry are good?
Thanks.

Hi
Im at Hertfordshire, and we have two in our first year
Karen
Really? That sounds good. How long are they Karen?
I found that Birmingham have one four-week placement in the first year, as do sheffield hallam. I think it is sometimes a case of courses making a practical profession a non-practical one by not offering so many opportunities to gain experience and just simply write about it. Has anybody found that with their course?
I think w/e is essential...like you may be able to write a great essay on a particular topic but if you don't know where to start when a patient is put in front of you, then its no use.
each uni varies when they do thier placements, I would say the vast majority of uni's do start them in the first year....I'm not sure where you heard that about not offering placements until the 3rd year, the only place I know that does that is some of the scottish uni's (the courses here are all 4 years anyway), the reason being they do thier whole 3rd year out on placement.
I think you'll find nearly every (if not all of them) in England will definitley have placements in the first year
Hi
The first placement at Herts is a two weeks shadowing, which gives students a real idea of a Physiotherapy environment, and weather or not its what they expected. I think cardio respiratory was the biggest shock to most I'm doing a five week placement in July which should give me more opportunity to get into the role, however I worked as a PT Assistant for a year and a half so I have experienced most areas of Physiotherapy When making your decision you could start looking at how they run the course, ie Does it have a strong practical, or theory approach, Do students have any choice in what modules they undertake etc (Nottingham give an option) and I strongly advise visiting the uni, as soon as I visited Herts I wanted to study there ......
