Pain and little swelling in the upper arm

    Hi,

Last week I was playing badminton and during a game I think I may have torn/pulled a muscle.
Some medical advice would be greatly appreciated and hence I am narrating my incident in short.

During my badminton game after I played an overhead shot, I felt like a wave of pain going through my right arm.
After that I couldn't even lift my racquet with my right hand.
For the entire day the pain was excruciating. I couldn't hold my arm up without a support from my left hand.I could not stretch it nor could I bring it closer to my body.

I took pain killers and applied anti inflamation gel on my arm.For 2 whole days the pain remained as it is but it started decreasing after the 3rd day.
Now there is pain in my arm but not excruciating. I apply the gel and take pain killers, but I still can't stretch my arm upwards. I can stretch it to the side and move it closer towards my body.My elbow is starting to get a very umcomfortable tingling sensation now-a-days.

Can anyone please advice me what exactly my symptoms point to?
Do I need to do any light exercises to strengthen my muscles ?
Please advice as this is starting to get very umcomfortable. I still can't leave my right hand dangling in mid air, either I have to keep it in a sling or give support to it with my left hand.

    Thank you

Well the same thing happened to me....i know it hurts like hell. i slept bad on my arm and it kinda twisted before i got out of bed and i pulled a muscle. it hurt for more than two weeks. i thought it was broken but my mom told me to put hot water and some epson salts on it. within days it started to feel a little better. good luck with your arm...

Re: Pain and little swelling in the upper arm

No one will be able to work out whats going on unless you can give us more details

Is the pain sharp and nervy or does it feel as though the shoulder went a bit out of its socket?

Where does the pain start and finish?

can you lift your arm up by itself now or do you still need to lift it passively?

    hi!
from your histoy there is a big possibility that your rotators were torn... you should go to the doctor and get a good medical check-up. Don't wait too long because if you need a surgery, then time is very important. goog luck!
