    Re: Pain in middle finger

you may have bruised the nerve between the bones, this can be very painful but usually settles on its own, can you definately move it all the way, cna you make a hook with the fingers and can you spread the fingers? a loss may indicate a ruptured tendon. If the pain isnt settling with NSAIDS then i would see a doc/physio

    Re: Pain in middle finger

I went in to the trainers yesterday and they said I possibly tore/bruised/damaged the ulnar collateral ligament in the mp joint of my middle finger. I 100% have a full ROM, though it hurts to make my hand completely straight then use my pinky to touch the base of my hand, though I can move it completely. They have me shut down from pitching, hitting, throwing, lifting, etc. My question is how can you hurt yourself like this pitching? How can you heal the quickest and most efficiently from this? How can you prevent it? The pain is actually diminishing for the first time since it began, which is very optimistic for me, and I am simply taking 3 ibuprofen as prescribed by the trainer every 8 hours.

BTW, I don't understand the 'hook with the fingers' thing that you said. Maybe clarify so I can tell you yes or no? But as far as I can tell, I have a full ROM in all of the fingers, hand, etc, it just hurts to move it sometimes, and if I grip a baseball at all, that is painful (4 seam, 2 seam, curve all hurt), but if I grip a baseball as if I were using three fingers or use a circle change with the middle finger and ring finger running down the two seams, there is no pain whatsoever.
