    Kinesiology Tape - Research

    Hi all !
Im thinking about manufacturing my own brand of kinesiology tape and i really need your help!
Although im not a physiotherapist myself, i came across this forum and i think its my best chance to get proper feedback as im sure most of you use it at some stage.
Hope you's can help me out, i would really apreciate it !

As i said earlier im thinking of manufacturing my own brand of kinesiology tape, my girlfriend is a physiotherapist and she reguraly use it(yes i already have fedback from her, but i would love to have more feedback)

I already have samples of my tape, i am really satisfied with them ! I have asked 4 different physiotherapists to have a look at it and compare it to the Big Brands out there that seems to be most popular ie. KinesioTEX. They were all really surprised and all clearly said that there is absolutely no difference at all between the Big Brands (They also have used it as well as just look at it). Knowing that i want to get more involved in making my tape to be available to others for far less money but thats where i need your help!

Wheather youre a physiotherapist of a sports team, hospital or own your own buisness...all feedback is much appreciated !

I would just like to ask few quick questions and if i could get your honest answers it would be great !

    1. As a physiotherapist, dou you use kinesiology tape ?

    2. If yes, what size of rolls do you use ?

    3. How much of it do you use per week/month <--(please state with your answer)

    4. What colour of tape do you use/which is most popular ?

    5. What size of rolls do you order most ?

    6. How much do you pay for your kinesiology tape (please state the size of roll)

    7. Would you consider a change if a good quality product was available at lower price ?

Thanks very much for your feedback !

    Hi Martin,

I am happy to hear that you are trying to 'manufacture 'your own tape.
Are you aware that there are already more than 60 brands out there?
I know not all of them are available in the UK.

Work as an independant tape instructor (in the UK through physiouk.co.uk and in other countries) and currently work with the big brands that are willing to tell me what is in their glue.
As I work with the elderly and children I am very particular about this.

What we need is a tape that is as 'non-chemical' as possible, preferably glue made from natural sources only as in time 30% of all people can develop a contact dermatitis to any given substance that is on their skin for a longer period of time.
We also need a tape company to make brown in various shades. Very few companies do and there are so many NON-whites around. The normal pinkish so-called skin coloured tape looks pretty terrible on the poor children with the beautiful honey coloured or deep brown skins.

So now let me answer your questions:
    1. As a physiotherapist, dou you use kinesiology tape ?
Yes, trained in paediatrics, musculoskeletal, geriatrics etc etc

    2. If yes, what size of rolls do you use ?
Always the 5 cm 5 meter as I prefer cutting my own size tapes always... never use precuts

    3. How much of it do you use per week/month <--(please state with your answer)
    Everyday

    4. What colour of tape do you use/which is most popular ?
Skin colour and blue. Different colours do have different effects and mechanical properties (research) and these colours are the ones with the least allergic and vagal reactions

    5. What size of rolls do you order most ?

    6. How much do you pay for your kinesiology tape (please state the size of roll)
As I do not work in the UK and order bulk I get nice prices....you can check up all the prices on the various websites... I did

    7. Would you consider a change if a good quality product was available at lower price ?
yes, but I a very wary of cheap products, need to know where they are being made as well.... and if the quality can be kept high over time.
Even KinesioTex changed factories once and the product was not as good....

kind regards and good luck Esther de Ru

    Taping
As I studied on google i found that Kinesiology tape is a thin, stretchy, elastic cotton strip with an acrylic adhesive. Therapeutic kinesiology tape that can benefit a wide variety of musculoskeletal and sports injuries, plus inflammatory conditions.
