    Physiotherapy vs Sports Therapy

I am looking at applying for my degree in either physiotherapy or sports therapy, and ultimately get involved in sport. As i understand, many sports (football, rugby, the English Institute of Sport,......) advertise positions for physiotherapists and not sports therapists. Anyone know the reasoning behind this? Are physios rgarded as superior to sports therapists? If I am not mistaken sports therapy degree prepares students specifically to work with athletes, whereas physiotherapy courses do not. And I guess that both being 3-year courses would cover similar volume of academic material.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    Re: Physiotherapy vs Sports Therapy

    Taping
    Hi,
that's really interesting. I had never heard of a BSc in Sports Therapy before. Sports and Exercise Science and Sports and Recreational Science yes, but not 'Therapy'.

Had a quick look at Uni of Kent's information and I wonder whether Sports Therapist is an accredited professional title, e.g. it says you might be able to voluntarily registrer with HPC in the future.
So I would check the accreditation of the programme and compare curriculi.
And ... sports injuries are covered in a Physio degree.

Can you tell more about the Sports Therapy degree?

    Cheers, Fyzzio
