Hi,

I was wondering if you could give me some advice on an issue I’m having. I am having problems dealing with a long term injury. The problem is that I have problems with my lower spine and as a result I have weak and stiff hips, my right hip is especially bad. I can’t run or jump, standing up is awkward and my balance is not good.

The problems started in 1997 and got worse but in 2002 I managed to exasperate the problems really badly. It’s only until late 2012 early 2013 I was able to identify the problem and started to really deal with it. I have been doing exercises that specifically strengthen and stretch the lower back and hips. I also try to keep a correct posture as much as I can. I have had some improvement but it is still really bad and also I need to recover as quickly as I can if possible.

It seems to me that the exercises that I’m doing even though they’re helpful are not enough and I have to think of some other ideas that may help, I did think of EMS and possibly inversion table therapy . I feel sceptical about inversion table therapy but am more optimistic about EMS because it seems to make sense to me and I know what electricity does to the human body.

Now I could go to a physio that provides these things but I want to save money I’m thinking of buying an EMS machine so I can do this myself. If you think this is a good idea what brand or type should I buy and what is good amount of money to spend? I want to save money but would be willing to pay up to £100 if needed but would prefer to pay around £50. I’m planning to use it on my lower back and possibly my hips. If you don’t think this is a good idea tell me why.

Do you think an inversion table would be better or anything else? Maybe I need to try weights. Anyway would like to hear your thoughts on this.
