    Torso bracing/support device

    Hi all,

This is a request to see if any sporting PT's out there can assist me with an 18 year old client I have with muscular dystrophy. He is a very active teenager who water skies, jet skis, snow skis etc and had only recently been diagnosed. He had already lost a large amount of scapula control and his trunk is less than stable.

I am trying to find a sporting undergarmet that is not to difficult to put on and when on, provides some support to the full length of the trunk. We have tried two lumbar support braces, one on top of the other, and this works well. We have also looked at the spine supports from Scott for skiing and snow boarding. If anyone has any other ideas?

    thanks, PhysioBob.

Just an update to this post. I have recently found a great brace for trunk support from a company called Bauerfeind, www.bauerfeind.co.ukIt is called a Softec Dorso and is heat moldable. The price is a touch expensive at around £460 including Vat and you do need some skill to fit it to the client.

However once fitted this is working well for my young Muscular Dystrophy Patient (18yrs old)
