    Clinical Examination

Advertise your physiotherapy job on Physiobob's Job
    Hi all,

I'm going through the final stage of AECOP assessment, just wondering if anyone could tell me how it feels to experience that. I just got the positive results from the written exam, and would like to know about the practice. If anyone has been through this, just wondering, how is it? How are the supervisors? And the examiners?

    waiting for any reply

    thank you all

    Daniela

    Re: Clinical Examination

    Hi Daniela

Sorry have not got there yet, but how were the written exams? How long have you been quaified, which could help you as the closer you are to having just done the Uni exams to qualify as a Physio. I on the other hand have been qualified for 15 years and have long forgotten what is required to pass these exams. I have been in private practice for about 14 yrs. Any help?

    Thanks

    Pete

    Re: Clinical Examination

    Hi Pete,

You seem to be lots of experience, so I believe you wont have any problems with any of the exams. The written one isn`t easy, but isn`t so difficult. To be honest is more ... what can I say... annoying than anything. Is the type of exam that wont test your knowledge and yes, your patience. It does requires lots of details, but I believe just take a look and read your uni notes. That`s what I did and it was fine. The AECOP puts lots of pressure, however, just pretend is a normal uni exam, nothing else. I am still waiting for the practical one, and so far nothing has been done.

    thanx for your reply

    Hope I could help

    Daniela

    Re: Clinical Examination

Yes, they are multiple choice questions, take a look at the Australian Phsyio Council Website, and if you already applied you should be able to access every information about the exam, questions, how many questions, workshops everything about the exam, including tips of how to study, like book references etc etc etc, so you might not have to ship your notes, i didnt do it from Brazil, i live in NSW and all I did is going to the physio uni, and borrow some books from the library, easy and just enough...

    hope it helps

    good luck

    Re: Clinical Examination

    Thanks Daniela

I am guessing that you can only access this info from the Physio Council's website once you have applied for te test. I still have to send in my Eligibility form 1249 with all my uni info etc, so have not applied. Can only apply for Sept now anyway. I cannot find any access to the info you mention, so wonder if it is unavailable until application for tests is in.

    Cheers

    Pete

    Re: Clinical Examination

    Hey,

Yep only when you apply you get a reg number and a password that gives you access to the paperwork. I am at the moment visiting my family in South America, however I am coming back to Australia next week and I`ve got a few things details, that I could send to you is not much but is good for you to have an idea.

If you want to give me your email and remind me next week I`ll send to you

    hope it helps

    Daniela

    Re: Clinical Examination

Dear Daniela,I am currently seeking eligibility assessment with the Australian Physiotherapy Council and also trying to get a temporary license with Tasmania and NSW Physiotherapy Board.I would like you to help me link up with any host facility like a Physiotherapy clinic if you have the details about some that would be willing to host a 12 months clinical supervision.
I am presently not doing anything here just waiting to hear from the Council and definitely as it is I might not be able to meet the March examination schedule so while waiting it would be better if I undergo some months of clinical supervision.
Please kindly help out, this boredom is killing me,and I am still waiting to hear from you concerning the exam preparation group you promise to introduce me to,
I am in brisbane presently, waiting to hear from you, thank you

    Re: Clinical Examination

    Hi there,

I am currently living in Sydney, and went through all you going now. Regarding your clinical placement, this is meant to be done by the physio council once you've pass the written exam. In addition to that once you complete the written part they will give you a interim certificate, and this will facilitate for you to get your temporary registration anywhere in Australia. Basically is that... hope i could help

    Daniela

    Re: Clinical Examination

    Hi Daniela,

I was going through the posts and I read your comment about clinical placement. You said that the clinical placement should be organised by the physio consul. I wonder to know if it's still compulsory because I haven't found any information on the ACOPRA website about it.
I hope U can help me.
    Thanks

    Hi

Clinical placements are not part of the assessment process and they are not organised by the Australian Physiotherapy Council. There are several universities that provide workshops for clinical assessment candidates. It is also possible to get a special form of registration in some States that enables candidates to prepare for the clinical assessment by working under supervision (but the registration boards have different rules so you should check their websites for more information).
