Newly qualified physio looking for australian sponsor

Advertise your physiotherapy job on Physiobob's Job
    Hi,

Im a newly qualified UK physiotherapist looking to work in Australia. Before beginning the registration exams I am looking into getting a temporary contract with a work visa with which I believe you can work for a max 3 months in each job for a year. However, I also understand you need to find a sponsor to supervise your clinical practice (as I would not be fully qualified) and was wondering if anyone can give me any information into how you would go about getting a sponsor? I realise you cannot gain temporary contracts in WA or queensland.

Looking forward to your replies x

    Hi there,
Just wondering if you are still looking for a sponsor as I would consider that process - I own 3 Physio clinics in NSW and am currently recruiting staff.
    Regards,
    Jane

Re: Newly qualified physio looking for australian sponsor

    Hi Jane,

Thank you for your reply, it is much appreciated. I have recently started a rotational job on a year contract in the UK, therefore for the next year I am will be tied up in the contract. However, I am still very interested in working in Australia and would appreciate the opportunity of a sponsor maybe next year. Would it be possible to contact yourself closer to the time? Would there still be an opportunity of work?

    Thank you very much x

Re: Newly qualified physio looking for australian sponsor

    Hi,
I am a physiotherapist from India having 41/2 years of experience. I have constantly updated myself with new learning techniques. I am going to Perth for a manual therapy course in the month of november for further improving my knowledge. I would like to work in australia. I would like to know if I can get some sponsor there.
    Thankyou

Re: Newly qualified physio looking for australian sponsor

    Hello Jane,
I am a physical therapist in the US with two years of work experience. I am interested in sponsorship to work as a physio in Wagga Wagga as my boyfriend is from there. He has returned to Wagga Wagga and will soon be starting an apprenticeship that will be a minimum of three years. We are trying to find a way that I can still work as a physio and be in Wagga Wagga together for at least the next three years if not longer. Any information would be much appreciated!
    Thanks so much,
    SoniaP

Re: Newly qualified physio looking for australian sponsor

    Hi Jane,

I qualified in sept 09 and am currently working as a part time outpatients physio until march 2010. I am due to have an operation at the end of the year/start of 2011 so am looking to gain some experience in australia when i finish my contract in march. Do you know if it is possible to work in australia on a temporary contract without doing the entry exams or would i need to do them anyway? I hope to eventually emigrate to Australia so i feel this would be a perfect opportunity so start my career.

Any advice or guidance you may have would be great.

    Many thanks x

Re: Newly qualified physio looking for australian sponsor

    Hi,
I am also looking for a sponsor so I can go and work over in Australia. I am interested in moving over there for good, and as its so hard to get a job over here (England) I figured I could start looking over there before I take my tests.
I graduated from the University of Birmingham in July 2009, and went travelling straight after that. This means, unfortunately, I have not had and post-grad experience, but I am really keen to get working as a physio.

Thanks to anyone who can help
    Caroline

Re: Newly qualified physio looking for australian sponsor

I've been working in the NHS in England in a junior rotational job for about 18months, but hoping to go over to Melbourne or Sydney in Australia for a year. Looking at the options 'limited reg' looks like it'll be the easiest route for me. However, looking at the reg application forms you have to have a job secured before you can apply for the registration. What is the best way to go about doing this? I have looked on seek.com.au and there are a lot of jobs on there but they all say you need to be registered to work to apply for the jobs. Is it best just to email private practices found via that website or is there an alternative?

I'd ideally like to work in a private msk practice or paediatrics over adult inpatients but wouldn't let that limit my options if getting a hospital / inpatient job is more likely.

Any help / advice would be much appreciated! Thanks, Anna

Re: Newly qualified physio looking for australian sponsor

    Hi Jane,
I am an Irish citizen due to graduate with a physiotherapy degree from the UK in June of this year. I have started my application for a temporary visa to work as a physiotherapist in Austrailia and I was wondering if you were still offering sponsorship or aware of any practices that were?

I would be extremely grateful for any information on this.
    Kind Regards,
    Joyce

    Hey Liam,
How did you go with renewing your limited registration? Looking to work in a Hospital in Melbourne but limited registration ties you to a certain employer,is it difficult to change employers with limited registration?

    Hi All,
I am an owner of a very busy practice in a Country town 2 hours south of Perth Western Australia. The town has a population of 10,000 people and we service all the mining industries surrounding us. I am currently employing and would definately look at sponsoring a physio. If you are interested, please don't hesitate to contact me.

    Regards

Re: Newly qualified physio looking for australian sponsor

    Hello all,

I qualified as a Physiotherapist (Bsc Hons Degree) June 2010, I have since gained 13 months experience. I am currently looking to gain experience working in Australia. I am having great difficulty understanding the full registration process.

I am aware that I need to be assessed and potentially carry out exams which seems to be very costly. I am very to keen to move out as soon as possible and am flexible regarding physiotherapy specialities.

I wonder if anyone has any advice or could help me at all.

    Thankyou.

    Emma
