Hi Guys,
I have completed my Bachelor of Physiotherapist from India back in 2005 and we moved to Canada few months back.
I have send all documents to allied PT for credential evaluation.
Meanwhile i have got admission in RPN (Nursing) course in Humber college.
Its a 2 years diploma course and the classes are going to start on 7th September. As i am single mother and only bread-earner i have to settle down quickly and have to have some Job to support my two kids.
Thats the reason i was looking at RPN because after 2 years i am sure i will have an income BUT with PT i am not sure how much time it will take to become PT (completing evaluation, written exam, practical exam etc..) and how competitive these exams are.
I have read that only 44% of foreign trained PT can clear these exams in first attempt and many cant even clear them in 3-4 attempts.
So now i am at a point in my life where i have will have to make a decision about my next 30 years of Job life and i will really appreciate if guys could provide your inputs and advise.
My preference is definitely PT and will appreciate if you could give me some information on below queries:
Q1. Whats the step by step process to become PT in Canada and how much time each step takes. How much money i will need to spend on these steps.
Also whats the best website or any other resource which could give me this information in detailed way.
My Nursing program will take 2 years, can i complete all steps and become a Physiotherapist in Canada in that same time period.
Please advise and share your experiences.
Thanks a lot in advance.
Tanya
