I am trying to uncerstand how does the Alliance score the PCE writte. Seems, they use something called standard score which allows them to compare score across different provinces. Let us try to understand how are they doing that. I quote alliance say about that process of scoring.

To pass the written component, you must achieve overall score 330 or higher on standard score scale
Standard score is not equal to number of questions you answered correctly
Average score for canadian educated physios first time is 500 . Standard deviation of the scale is 100
I searched for what is standard score . Most of the information is there is a calculator to know the standard score , but we have to have the raw score ( which might be in my view the number of the correct answers we did at the exam ). Sometimes that stanadard score is called Z score.

To calculate a z-score, subtract the mean from the raw score and divide that answer by the standard deviation. That is the statics rule.

For our exam , may be.. I am not sure the mean is 500, the standard deviation is 100...the standard score is 330 ...I tried to get it back the other way to know the raw score , but not easy to figure it .....

Can anyone share ideas/ views ?
