Question amount of evidence per competency

Advertise your physiotherapy job on Physiobob's Job
    Hi All,

Im currently in the process of completing my application and have a query about how much evidence is required for each competency...i know they quote 3-5 pieces per competency but........

For the competencies requiring evidence of the 3 core bases of physiotherapy e.g. competency 1, do they need 3-5 pieces of strong evidence per core area i.e. 3-5 MSK, 3-5 Neuro and 3-5 Resp totalling 9-15 pieces of evidence altogether for that competency?
Or do they mean 3-5 pieces of evidence (combining the 3 core areas) altogether in total for that competency?

(i know then for other competencies that have the 3 core areas combined e.g. competency 4 -communication they need 3-5 pieces of evidence altogether)

im just a bit confused! ive tried emailing the board but they just sent me back the guidline information and this still doesnt clear things up for me!

any help would be much appreciated!!!!!

Re: amount of evidence per competency

    Hi

I have just gained my registration. I did the old style process, but I believe the new format is easier to follow. I sent competencies for each core area but some of them did overlap a little. Hope this helps.

Re: amount of evidence per competency

do they need 3-5 pieces of strong evidence per core area i.e. 3-5 MSK, 3-5 Neuro
The answer is 'yes'; they need 3-5 pieces for each competency.
The competency is not called "1", the competency is called "1 cardiopulomonary". So the next competency is "1 musculoskeletal", etc..

See application pack part 5 Competency Templates
The Physiotherapy Board of New Zealand > Registration - Overseas Qualified Physiotherapists

I have just talked to a UK Physio (who is awaiting registration), who also thought that the new application package is really helpful with all its templates and makes the process a lot easier.
    Cheers,

Re: amount of evidence per competency

The process is a lot easier with the new templates but are we now suppose to answer the question in an essay/paragraph format as the question for competency 1 is ' analyse and discuss'....or have people just listed evidence for each component under each competency?? Im not sure the best way to start....please help!

While I don't know exactly what the board expects I would agree with Fyzzio - you need to provide evidence in all three areas in order to demonstrate your scope of practice

james physio 365, when it says "analyse and discuss" these are higher level cognitive tasks so yes I would DEFINITELY go about analysing and discussing in detail with the best written English style you can muster. I would only list things if it says "list"

All the best with your applications
