1 Year post-grad experience in the UK in musk and ortho? What about neuro/resp?

Advertise your physiotherapy job on Physiobob's Job
    Hi there people!!

I am a UK qualified Physio who has 6 months experience 2 months in out-patient musculoskeletal and 4 months in orthopaedic inpatients. I am looking to go to newzealand by next june/july 2011. However the place I am working in now where I am planning to stay for the next 6 months doesnt look like I may get much resp/neuro experience. Can I still give evidence of competency in these other areas and gain newzealand reg once i hit 12 months? If so how? What are the ways around this?

Please help!! I am extremely desperate to go next June as soon as I have finished my years experience here in the UK!

    Please

firstly it depends upon where you qualified, if your have undertaken a four year degree then you can use the evidence from neuro and cardioresp.
does the place you work have an on call rota? i found this a good foot in the door to obtain some CR experience. do you treat any chests at all on your wards? you've got to think that you've managed to qualify so you should be ablr to prove it!lol

    Hi,
I might be wrong here, but I thougth the whole thing was about meeting certain competencies rather than demonstrating post-graduate work experience.

So, as long as you have covered Neuro and Cardio in undergraduate placements, you should be fine.
    ???

    Cheers,

    Thank for your replies guys!!

I have enrolled on to a neuro rehab course and resp on-call course to prove my competencies in that area. But any idea of what kind of content is required for showing the competencies. Would there be anyone kind enough to send me an example of their application as a guidance tool?
