Question Application and APC- how long between? and what about HPC?

Advertise your physiotherapy job on Physiobob's Job
    Hi All,
I am beginning the process of applying for NZ registration. I intend on making the big move at end of 2014/beg 2015.
Am I best to wait until nearer the time to register or can I go ahead with getting nz reg first this year, and get an Annual practicing certificate nearer the time ie mid 2014?

Basically how long can the gap be so I dont end up paying too soon before I move?

Hope that makes sense. Also what have others done about their CSP and HPC subscriptions?

    Many thanks in advance

    Hi,
basically nobody knows how long the registration process can take. Some people have made it in 8 weeks, but they didn't say how long it took them to prepare their portfolio, i.e. have everything ready for the board to be satisfied and accept the application.
Once you get NZ registration, you do not have to get an APC. You can also register as "non practising" and keep your name on the register for an annual fee.
The APC in NZ is valid from 1. April to 31. March each year.
    See here:
The Physiotherapy Board of New Zealand > Annual Practising Certificate

The rest depends on how long you are going away for, but I wouldn't let registration with the HPC expire.
    Cheers,

    Hi

Rego is only valid for one year after it has been successfully processed, so dont do it too early, but dont do it too late either or you'll end up lke me...in NZ jobless waiting for it to get processed...(well its the summer so its not all bad!)

Keep your HPC (now HCPC) certificate up to date

I have cancelled CSP whilst i'm out of the UK

Only get ACP certificate when you have a job offered or really close to starting work here.

    Hope that all helps
