good CPD/post qualification courses for working in NewZealand

Hello,

I am just at the beginning of my New Zealand registration process (major eeks!!) I am hoping to make the big move late 2014. I am just wondering if there is anyone working in New Zealand, or who has work experience from New Zealand can advise on any good CPD/post qualification courses to do to help improve my CV??

I was thinking of doing something along the lines of acupuncture/ clinical pilates/ msk courses (mulligans nags and snags) but as all of these cost big money and take time, I am unsure about which to go for/ which would be of more benefit to me (employment wise)

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated

Hi,
do you have gaps in your CV that you need to fill for registration or do you generally look for courses that will send you down the Specialist path or make your application attractive for employers?

If it's for better job opportunities, I would say it depends on where you are looking for work. Let me presume it's in the MSK area in Private Practice. Is that correct?
You need Mulligan or McKenzie at least, I would say. And Acupuncture is always a bonus - much more than Pilates.
Certificates in Orthopaedic Medicine in the UK are also desirable.

Hey Fyzzio,

Cheers for the speedy reply! Eh ideally I'd like to be ward based as that is where the majority of my experience is, but given the way jobs are at the moment, I get the feeling that the majority of work is in MSK private currently! Hence me trying to improve my CV as much as I can before I head out!

The main gap I will have in my CV is neuro as I wont have the opportunity to do that rotation before I plan to leave. I am hoping to make up for that by doing some ad on courses and work placement in neuro at my current job.

I was surprised that acupuncture is more valuable to have then Pilates...this is helpful to know as I have been trying to decide between the two for a while now

Now to decide between McKenzie and Mulligans...the joys a bit of research will help with that decision no doubt!
