Working as a physio in the USA with a J1 visa

    Hi all,

I plan to graduate this summer as a physio, and I am applying for a J1 visa.

Is it possible to work as a physio in the states using a J1? or Would I still have to sit the NPTE/PTA exam, and register with and their bodies for the sake of 3 months? etc etc

Basically I am wondering if it is worth the hassle. Any information would be very much appreciated

    Thanks

well from going through the credentialing, npte and visa app to work in the usa from the uk im fairly certain you can not work in the states as a physio without a visa screen certificate (type 1) from the fccpt and passing the npte, even for 3 months, in addition to a state license...that takes months if not years to complete. That said, im basing that on moving there to work and live with either a h1b or eb2 visa and ive not heard of the j1 so look into it but as I said im pretty sure youll not be able to practice and earn money without the requirements ive listed. A possibility is to study maybe on the j1 or for a placement type role... good luck!
