    Re: New York or Michigan

    Hi !!

I Know this question may sound out of way...but i didnt know where to write a new post so i thought probably u guys can help......

I am a physical therapist from New Delhi, India. I completed my masters in June 2007 and am now practicing with one of the finest health care centers in Delhi. I have applied for the licensure with the New York state education Department. I will be visiting US on spouse visa.

After a considerable gathering of information about the norms of practicing in US , I understand that it would take an inevitable period of 4-6 months for the USCIS to grant me the H- 1 visa after its filing in April ,that will allow me to start working only in October of any year. Therefore, I would be obliged if you can help me with the following queries :

    1) Are there any employers available who understand these unavoidable delay of 4- 5 months in joining a job as a physical therapist and will still agree to sponsor my H-1B visa?

    2) If yes, then can you people help me in contacting them?

    3) If no, then how should I go about finding a sponser because I cant even work in that interval from April to October coz I wont get an OPT( Optional Training Certificate) on spouse visa?

I will be really grateful to you if you can help me with this valuable piece of information as soon as possible.

Thank you for a patient reading,

    warm regards,

    Vidushi Parna Das

    hi Cailin,
Basically there are simple but time taking steps.

1- Credential Evaluation of your education in physical therapy (for each stat it differs, so better to start with those who has minimum requirement like NY or michigan)

2- When you get your credential report, and if there is no deficiency then you should apply with health board of that state, and they will send a letter to FSBPT (central authority to conduct and regulate physiotherapy exams).

3- when health borad of your respective state sends your eligibility of test, than you should apply for Approval for Test from FSBPT.

4- Once you got a letter from FSBPT, than you have to call the prometric test centres and book for test within 2 months.

5- Go to USA. appear in exam and if you pass then you will be liecnesed to work.

6- After that you can start looking for employer and proceed with visa work.

    Best of Luck

Best way in your case, is to go for credentials, than appear in exam, and when you will pass the NPTE, + visa screening certificate , only then you will be able to go process for H1 B.
And you can find lots of sponsers.
    Best of luck

Advertise your physiotherapy job on Physiobob's Job
Hi, I am from South Africa, just qualified and now serving my one year community service. I am thinking about immigrating overseas. Are there many opportunities for physiotherapists in the US? And what are the criteria for a foreigner moving to the USA? I hold a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy with honours.
